Youth Baseball

Las Vegas has a long tradition of providing the youth of the valley with the opportunity to play baseball. The first Little Leagues were formed in 1968 and before that the City, County and Catholic Church ran baseball programs. Today, the Las Vegas area is home to more than 15 different Little Leagues along with quite a few quality travel/club baseball organizations. American Legion baseball also has a long history in Las Vegas with Henderson, NV Post 40 winning the National Championship in 2017. Youth baseball players from Vegas benefit from our desert climate which allows them to participate in tournaments and leagues throughout the year in Southern Nevada!

Las Vegas Little League

Little League baseball is well established in the Las Vegas Valley and there are numerous Little Leagues. Nevada is divided into four Little League Districts. Districts 1 and 3 cover the Northern and Central part of Nevada while Districts 2 and 4 serve Southern Nevada. District 4 generally covers communities west of the I-15 interstate, while District 2 is located in the eastern half of the Vegas Valley. 2014 Little League World Series

In 2014, Mountain Ridge Little League from Northwest Las Vegas became the first team from Nevada to win the Little League West Region and play in the Little League World Series. The team earned their way to Williamsport, Pennsylvania after defeating their opposition in Nevada and winning the West regional tournament at Al Houghton Stadium in San Bernardino, California.

Mountain Ridge All-Stars started their Little League World Series play with three big victories. The team soundly defeated South Dakota 12-2, Chicago, Illinois 13-2, and then overcame the power pitching of the celebrated Mo’ne Davis and her Pennsylvania team 8-1 to play for the U.S. championship on August 23rd. Unfortunately, Mountain Ridge lost a heartbreaking rematch against Jackie Robinson Little League from Chicago by the score of 7-5. The team then lost to Japan 5-0 in the consolation game. They were later awarded the U.S. Championship after Jackie Robinson Little League was forced to vacate their wins due to a rules violation.
