The first professional baseball team in Nevada was the Las Vegas Wranglers, a team that played in various minor leagues between 1947 and 1958. When the team folded after a bad season, Las Vegas would lose its pro team for the next thirty years. Finally, in 1983 the Spokane Indians relocated to Las Vegas and became the Las Vegas Stars and minor league baseball was back in Southern Nevada. The Stars were the San Diego Padres Triple-A affiliate and numerous baseball “stars” played for the team between 1983 and 2000 including Pacific Coast League Hall of Famer, Sandy Alomar Jr. The team rebranded as the Las Vegas 51s in 2001, coinciding with a change in affiliation to the Los Angeles Dodgers. The 51s would play at Cashman Field in Las Vegas from 2001 to 2018, changing affiliations to the Toronto Blue Jays from 2009 to 2012 and the Mets from 2013 to 2018. In 2019, the city of Las Vegas welcomed another rebranding as the team moved to a new stadium, Las Vegas Ballpark, in the suburb of Summerlin, and took off as the Aviators!
